AMRITA HEPI, acknowledges the black and brown female body as an intricate repository for, and of, historical knowledge. Departing from conventional viewpoints that perceive archives as mere repositories of documentation, or bureaucratic entities, Hepi embraces an alternative rationality.

For her, the black and brown female body stands as an archive that exists distinctly, and in opposition to, traditional, and colonial, notions of the archive. Using linguistic mechanisms, specifically homonym, as a framing device, Hepi develops a specific visual language for, and within, her artworks. Pointedly exploring the multifaceted nature of words, which, far from operating within a binary, encompass a spectrum of effects ranging from, frustration and failure, to delight and the profound shaping of human experience.

VITRINE EDITIONS. is interested in the multiple, the mirror, the reproduction & the doppelgänger. V.E. exibits the works of early career & emerging artists, through the reproduction of two existing, unique artworks. V.E. reproduces selected artworks, focusing on a scientific likeness to the original. Each available in an edition of ten archival pigment prints on cotton rag, signed & editioned by the artist. V.E. exhibits as seasons (quarterly).
